BASIL, CORIANDER leaves are one of the many vegetables that my children love to eat,  either as part of the  main ingredients or as salad to partner with fried fish. Vietnamese food are the most easiest food to prepare - pho soup, rice noodles, spring rolls, etc........  In my pantry i always a have stock of hoisin sauce, fish sauce, rice noodles. Thanks to SM hypermart/save more which is just near our place fresh basil,  coriander and beans sprout are so easy to find. For less than an hour instant merienda "snack" or dinner meal is ready to serve.

HEALTHY EATING............................My obsession for 2014

I am on my way on celebrating my 50 years of existence in this world. Aside from this numbers all the signs are there-------white hair, erratic blood pressure, pre menopausal syndromes are felt, arthritis,etc..........

Now my obsession this 2014 is to start by practicing healthy eating.

My target is to start by eating a balanced diet in healthy portions combined with regular exercise.

STEAMED FOOD.........
CREATE A PLATE.........way of eating
BAKED.................

CREATING A PLATE

Green salad, baked squash and tilapia fillet breaded with oatmeal
This is a once complete meal and my kids and my husband enjoyed it as well.

Creating a plate is simple, just start by drawing an imaginary line. Fill the large section with non-starchy vegetables, in one small sections with starchy foods and grain and the other small section , protein.

STEAM SEAFOOD

Once a week we always have sea foods in our table. Some people afraid of buying sea foods because for them its synonymous with the word EXPENSIVE......Well a small crabs can be a replacement for big crabs or ALIMANGO and we love it.

Steamed small crabs

steamed oyster, mussels and salmon

BAKED VEGGIES

Sweet corn and Potato

Buttered lemon sauce and  Garlic TABASCO (my favorite condiments of all times)
This sauces are hard habit to break

I knew there's a lot of good eating habit that will slowly introduce me to a new daily healthy lifestyle.

Earth Kitchen - Country feel in the City

“Country things are the necessary root of our life - and that remains true even of a rootless and tragically urban civilization. To live permanently away from the country is a form of slow death.”
Esther Meynell

Plants, woods, birds are the things that truly relaxes me. OUr home is an example wherein wood, plants and birds is everywhere. Every morning birds are in my kitchen, in our living area, in the garden, everywhere............... In the city I just put small plants in the terrace (space is limited here) and spread birds food to attract them, i have some visitors once in a while.....

My husband and I visited Earth Kitchen for a light snack which  is a break from the usual restaurant set up in the city. Now you do not need to go to Tagaytay, Pampanga, Laguna to enjoy country like ambiance.

We were surprise by the door, we just stare at  it for a while because we do not how to open this wonderful wood door (i wanted one). Its was a revolving door after all.

It is surrounded by garden and BAHAY KUBO which totally complete the country side feel

The plants and bright surrounding "feels like home"

I am trying very hard to eat and prepare healthy food not just for me but for the whole family. At Earth Kitchen healthy food is what will you get plus a bonus of a very relaxing atmosphere

SHRIMP SPRING ROLL
shrimp wrapped with mixed greens and cilantro plus hoisin sauce on the side

CALAMANSI JUICE

While waiting for our food my husband seems to enjoy selfie pictures

SAMPLE MENU
all servings are good for two person

All the ingredients are organic

Lately, I have been more conscious with the food I eat and prepare for my family. It is a relief to see restaurant offering healthy food growing here in the city.  I will definitely come back here at Earth Kitchen.

OUR KITCHEN - Where East Meets West

A restaurant is a FANTASY - a kind of living fantasy in which diners are the most important members of the cast

-Warner LeRoy

We are regulars here in Benjo and Damien's CAstle- OUR KITCHEN. What makes me, my family and friends love the place it's because we feel important there. Just like in a broadway show their restaurant is the theater and we are the most important of the cast.

The Lead Actors  (My family)

The supporting actors (my friends)

The LEAD STAR of the show - THE FOOD

SPARE RIBS - my old time favorite

Fresh Salad with tuna and olive

Calamares

BULALO (my new favorite) with special sauce and veggies

white pizza (my childrens and friends favorite)
I am not a pizza person but it tastes good that's why its one of the many best seller in the place

 Baked mussel
I always order this to pair with wine or beer

Ice tea with pearl and beer

 Chili Oil
we always have it in our table

Overall, OUR KITCHEN serves respectable line of dishes and the affordable price is a bonus. The food is fantastic and since I am a regular there was not a single item that I did not enjoy and service was fast. Another COOL BONUS  here is the place, as if I am home. Me and my friend can stay here until closing time not feeling guilty because that's what it is here- HOME, RELAX..........

NOt to compare but since the first time we eat here I miss the  original Meycauayan best restaurant that's no longer around - The GArden in  Calvario, Banga REstaurant and  Olimars Restaurant in Banga. All we can see right now are fastfood restaurant, its everywhere.

Thanks to OUR KITCHEN - now we have our very own in Meycauayan City, Bulacan.
